Be ready for wintery conditions. Prepare a winter emergency kit and keep it in your car. Your kit should include:

  • first aid kit
  • battery jump leads
  • torch and spare batteries
  • map for unplanned diversions
  • blanket
  • reflective warning sign
  • ice scraper and de-icer
  • shovel for snow
  • Warm clothes, boots and a blanket
  • Some food and a warm drink in a flask
